Geoff Hindson (Partner)
Personal injury, Wills & Probate and Elderly client services
Geoff qualified as a Solicitor in January 1990 after successfully completing his Law Society Final Examinations in Newcastle. As a newly qualified Solicitor he commenced work for a firm in Newcastle before moving to a firm in South Shields in 1991. He subsequently became a Partner in the firm of Small Hindson & Co. Following a merger with Southern Stewart & Walker in September 1997 Geoff moved to our Beach Road office where he has remained ever since.
Geoff’s early career focused on Claimant personal injury work. He was a member of the Law Society’s Specialist Personal Injury Panel for 20 years and a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) for a similar length of time, fighting for the rights of injured Claimants. He now combines his remaining Personal Injury work with Wills, Probate and Elderly Client services. Geoff currently charges £200.00 plus VAT per hour with £20.00 plus VAT being charged for routine letters and telephone calls.
The firm attained Lexcel accreditation in April 2012 and has been a member of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) since July 2012. Geoff played a key role in securing the initial accreditations and subsequent annual re-accreditations.
Geoff is the firms Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Financial Affairs (COFA).
Residential and Commercial Conveyancing
Trevor joined Southern Stewart & Walker in March 2014.
Trevor has worked in private practice for over 40 years having gained experience with major practices . He commenced his career at Dickinson Dees and has worked with Ward Hadaway.
Trevor currently charges £185.00 plus VAT per hour with £18.50 plus VAT being charged for routine letters and calls.
Joanne Blackwood (Partner)
Litigation and dispute resolution
Joanne qualified as a Solicitor in November 2000 after completing her Law Degree and Legal Practice Course qualification at Northumbria University. Joanne trained and qualified at a firm in Newcastle city centre before moving to a specialist personal injury firm in the Newcastle area. She worked for a high street practice in Co. Durham before joining Southern Stewart & Walker in October 2018. Joanne works mainly from our Beach Road office but is happy to see clients at our Prince Edward Road office when required.
Throughout her legal career, Joanne has undertaken general litigation work and for a number of years specialised in personal injury work. Joanne now undertakes a broad range of litigation and dispute resolution work along with more generalised landlord and tenant work and personal injury work. Joanne currently has an hourly charging rate of £185.00 plus VAT, with routine letters and telephone calls charged at £18.50 plus VAT.
Gavin Mills (Solicitor)
Head of Conveyancing
Gavin qualified as a Solicitor in September 2005 after completing his Law Degree and Legal Practice Course qualifications. Gavin trained and qualified as a Solicitor for a firm in Newcastle city centre. Since then he has worked for several firms in the North East area. Gavin currently specialises in residential conveyancing work. Gavin also has significant experience of personal injury work.
Gavin joined Southern Stewart & Walker in January 2020 and is based at our Prince Edward Road office. Gavin’s charging rate is £185.00 plus VAT, with routine letters and telephone calls charged at £18.50 plus VAT.
Fiona Lamb (Chartered Legal Executive)
Fiona qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in June 2011 and has worked in private practice for over 30 years in the North East. She specialises in all residential conveyancing matters including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, shared ownership matters, right to buys, equity release transactions, deeds of variation, purchase of freehold reversions, transfer of equity and voluntary first registrations.
